Keystone State Chapter of ALOA

Welcome to the Keystone state chapter of the ALOA Security Professionals Association, Inc. (formerly the Associated Locksmiths of America, Inc)! We are proud to be a part of the worlds largest and most stages organization for locksmith professionals in the world. We take our duties very seriously and are dedicated to enhancing the professionalism, education, and ethics in the world of locksmithing. On this website you’ll find resources to enhance your locksmith knowledge, with everything from links to books and videos to online resources and partner resourced libraries. We hope to expand the amount of educational resources that are housed on this website soon, to benefit not only locksmiths in our chapter of a ALOA, but those around the world as well. We believe that continued education and continuing to stay abreast of the latest trends in home security, smart locks, automotive locks, biometrics, as well as good old residential tumbler locks, is essential to preserving our trade and distinguishing ourselves from imitators.

As Bob Dylan said, “The Times They Are A-Changin'”! With the expansion of the Internet, it’s easier than ever to find a locksmith… but are they a real locksmith? Unless you’ve worked with them before, it’s hard to distinguish professionals from amateurs, or even scammers. This is something that we run into every day: A customer says that they hired a locksmith who showed up in an unmarked car with a magnet sign on the side that said locksmith. The locksmith themselves weren’t dressed in uniform, And they were abrasive and their demeanor. They said the lock couldn’t be picked than it needed to be drilled, and of course, they recommend that you buy a $300 lock to replace it.

When hiring a locksmith, it’s extremely important to look at their credentials, look at reviews on Yelp and Google+, and ask your friends if they have any companies that they would recommend working with. That way, you will hopefully be able to avoid a bad experience with an unscrupulous company.

We are trying to change the reputation of locksmiths online, one customer at a time. Our members devote themselves to saying abreast of the latest trends in our community and industry, including smart locks, the Internet of things (IOT), and how we can best leverage technology to continue honing our craft. We take locksmithing seriously, and you should too! There’s nothing fun about coming home and realizing that your house has been broken into, that you’re safe is gone, but your valuables have been taken, most of which may have sentimental about. We are strong proponents of taking it as your local resources, like your city’s Police Department and the local reputable locksmiths, to do a home inspection either for free or for a nominal fee. This is one of the best ways to decrease the chances of an incident, while making connections with home security professionals in your city. It’s a win-win!

We hope that consumers and locksmith professionals alike are able to benefit from this website, and we are excited to make updates to it in the future. We not only want this website to be a place to learn about locks and home security, but to open up a discussion as well, And we hope that you take part. If you have any suggestions about how to improve the site, the layout, the information, or anything in between, please reach out to us via e-mail at
